How to Take Care of Your Engagement Ring.

Couples may lose the charm of their wedding with time, but you don’t have to lose the shine of your engagement ring. The stones and metals that are there in the ring may lead to certain damage like oxidation, discoloration, scratches and bending after a long period of time. But if you follow certain simple tips you can keep it in good condition for many years.

Do’s

  • Clean your ring at least once a week.

  • Do remove your ring when you’re involved in housecleaning activities.

  • Insure your engagement ring against theft or loss.

  • Get your ring inspected twice a year by a qualified jeweler.

Don’ts

  • Don’t remove your ring near vulnerable places like sinks, bathtubs where it can be lost.

  • Don’t wear your ring while in swimming pool, lakes or oceans as it can fall off.

  • Don’t keep your ring with other jewelry as it can be easily scratched or chipped.

  • Don’t touch your ring often as oil in your hand can reduce their sparkle.

Clean your engagement ring:

  • Clean your ring with a solution of water and mild liquid detergent.  Soak the ring in it for a few minutes and brush it with a soft toothbrush. Rinse in warm water and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.

  • If your engagement ring is overly dirty, you can get it professionally cleaned by jewelers.

  • Clean your ring with a solution of alcohol and warm water. Soak it for several minutes. Rinse it in warm water and let dry on an absorbent surface.

  • Keep your ring in a dry, clean place when not wearing it.

Store your engagement ring

  • An engagement ring should be wrapped in a soft fabric and kept in jewelry bag for storage.

  • It can also be kept in a safe deposit box.

  • Don’t keep the ring with other pieces as it can lead to scratches.

By regular cleaning, storage and caring your ring will remain as sparkling as the day it was first put on your finger.
